Representations of women in selected novels by Agatha Christie

The bachelor's thesis deals with the representations of female characters in selected detective novels written by Agatha Christie in order to find out whether and eventually how it reflects the historical reality in terms of the position of women in contemporary British society. The subject of research is works originating from various periods of the writer's authorship, namely from the 1930s and the 1970s. The focus of the work is the analysis of female characters in the books Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, Nemesis and Elephants Can Remember focusing on the believability of the characters and the importance of their role in the story. Particular attention should be paid to the issue of the position of women in society and shifts in the perception of women's issues in the examined period.

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyse the novel Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis, particularly in terms of the social situation that was inspired by real conditions of the fifties in Great Britain. Thus, the thesis indicates the basic pillars of the state policy that was emphasised in the post-war period as it is essential for understanding the discussed text. To understand this situation and its influence on society it was important to contain also other authors belonging to the group of Angry Young Men as their works include important reactions to that period.
Depiction of British Society in Selected Novels of Agatha Christie

The Thesis explores how the British society is depicted in Agatha Christie's detective stories. The theoretical part introduces briefly the Golden Age of detective fiction and Christie's position within the genre. It also gives an outline of the social conditions between the Wars. The analysis is based on three country-house mysteries, the attention being paid to the classes, village and the social changes that took place in the inter-war and post-war period.
Depiction of society in historical television series: Bridgerton versus The Knick

The diploma thesis examines the depiction of social classes, men, women and ethnic minorities in historical television serials. It is concentrated specifically on a qualitative analysis and comparison of two serials, namely Bridgerton (2020) and The Knick (2014- 2015), of which both fall within the quality television genre. The thesis deals with the ways of representation of the societies of their respective periods, aiming especially at identifying the incorrect depiction of the historical period in question, if any, and at finding similarities with the problems concerning the today's society (such as addressing the issues of social inequalities and manifestations of the identity policy). The theoretical part of the diploma thesis describes the phenomenon of a television serial, namely that concerning the historical serial and quality TV genres, the latter being the kind of television serial work distinguishing itself by comprehensive and innovative procedures, elaborate narratives, and emphasis put on the development of characters. Attention is also paid to the field of the cultural studies, mainly the hegemony theory and the concept of ideology, media and their representation, as well as the study of media audience. This bachelor thesis deals with lifestyle research of the population of the Czech Republic and ABCDE classifications used in the Czech market, as possible indicators for society segmentation in marketing. The first theoretical part defines the essential concepts of sociology and marketing. The second practical part analyzes specific data of leisure time activities, household facilities and ABCDE classification. The third part, the conclusion is the linking of theoretical knowledge as well as practical and assessment of the impact and utility of this knowledge in the marketing area.

This bachelor thesis tries to show the importance of social stratification for marketing. There are explained causes of different consumer behaviour of particular social classes. The research "Market&Media&Lifestyle -- TGI", done by company Median, maps the consumer behaviour in detail -- this data is the basis for practical part where features of social stratification are followed regarding the consumer behaviour in a lot of different areas.
